It changes who kids are when you tell them they are creative.

Give your child the gift of encouragement, confidence, and creativity.

Payne’s Gray Art Club is an online membership that instills confidence, provides inspiration, encourages and teaches art to kids.

This online space celebrates the gift of human imagination. Creativity is the process of having original ideas that have value. This art club provides the next generation of thinkers with tools to express these ideas. New pre-recorded videos each week are available for your kids to learn the foundations of art, design, painting, drawing, composition, and color theory in a way that they can understand and apply.

FAQ:

What ages does this membership serve?

This membership provides foundational art lessons and directly serves kids ages 7-12, but is easily modified for younger children. (I actually love to include coloring pages for the littles. You’ll find those hidden throughout the lessons.) However, these art lessons are perfect for anyone of any age who wants to learn the foundations of great art and design.

How much is the membership? Do I need a separate membership for each child?

This membership is a monthly fee of $37 and includes your entire family- no matter how many kids you have! As a parent, you are always welcome to join in the painting with us. We also offer a six month discounted membership for $185.

What types of art will my children learn?

As a member your child will learn foundations of art, design, painting with watercolor, drawing, composition, and color theory in a way that they can understand and apply. Our curriculum also includes some seasonal projects, and inspiration from the greats masters throughout history.

What kind of supplies do I need?

As a member, you will receive a detailed list of recommended supplies that are easily found on amazon or your local craft store. Nothing fancy will be required. Most lessons will only require watercolor paint, paper, brushes, and a pencil or a few supplies you have around the house.

What does Payne’s Gray mean?

Payne's Gray is a dark blue gray made from a mixture of Ultramarine, Mars Black and sometimes Crimson. It was named after the 18th c. water-colourist William Payne who created the mixture and often recommended it to his students as an alternative to plain black. Today Payne’s Gray is a staple on many artists’ palettes. I use this color in my own work instead of black because it gives a richer mixture of colors and I recommend every student do the same. Naming our membership Payne’s Gray gives a nod to the idea that our kids are capable of understanding art and color on a deeper level.
